Bad news folks. I was just notified about this news story by Gregg Eldred (thanks Greg). It seems

the historic Frankenmuth Brewery has closed

Frankenmuth (and this brewery in particular) is on my list of "regular places to visit". I've been to this brewery twice, and thoroughly enjoyed myself on both occasions. (Yes, I'm somewhat critical of some of their beers, but on the whole they are an excellent brewery). They've been around since 1862. They've been destroyed twice (once by fire, once by tornado), and persevered both times.

I sincerely hope they can somehow manage to get through this third "rough time" and get back to doing what they do best: making excellent beer.
