BP403 Moving IBM Lotus Domino to Linux

QuickImage Category LS 2007

Speaker: Andrew Pollack (Northern Collaborative Technologies)

From the sessions db:

Thinking of moving to Linux but can’t find your pocket protector? This session covers the key things you need to know to make your Lotus Domino server on Linux a success, with a quick background in file security, networking, shell scripting, and that scary Linux command line. Tips to get you started right away, and links to more depth on each topic make this a must see for new Linux administrators.

I've known Andrew Pollack for several years now. I first met him at either Lotusphere 2004 or Advisor Devcon (Las Vegas) 2004. However, this was the first time I've ever had the opportunity to attend one of his sessions.

Andrew has been referred to as an "Alpha Geek" by others, and with good reason. This session was perfect for me.

It is about time to upgrade the primary development server at azlighthouse works (currently an Athalon 800MHz 512Mb RAM running Win2K Advanced Server), and I've been considering going the Linux route as well.

This session really helped solidify that decision. Andrew pointed out several potential pitfalls, while at the same time helped to dispel most of my concerns. The migration won't be a walk in the park; but neither will it be the technical nightmare I was imagining it to be.
